Tumor Treatment Methods and Screening Assays |
abstract |
The present invention generally relates to screening candidate molecules for treating tumor metastasis and to methods of treatment using such molecules. Accordingly, the present invention comprises the steps of (1) administering a plurality of test substances to a non-human syngeneic immunocompetent animal model involving one or more soft tissues or bone metastases in the presence or absence of a primary tumor; (2) if present, determining the effect of the test substance on the growth of primary tumor and soft tissue or bone metastasis; And (3) if present, identifying a test substance that inhibits the growth of soft tissue or bone metastases without exhibiting a deleterious effect on the condition of the primary tumor. |
