abstract Described are compounds with two reactive functional groups that can be used as tethering compounds to immobilize an amine containing material to a substrate. The first reactive functional group can be used to provide adhesion to the substrate surface. The second reactive functional group is an N-sulfonyldicarboximide group capable of reacting with an amine containing material, in particular a primary aliphatic amine, to form a linking group between the substrate and the amine containing material.
