abstract At the periphery of the front substrate 11 of the FED, a rectangular frame-shaped sealing attachment surface 11a for sealingly attaching sidewalls is formed. The indium layer 32 is formed in the sealing adhesion surface 11a through the base layer 31. As shown in FIG. Electrodes 34 for energization are connected to four corner portions of the indium layer 32, respectively. The indium layer 32 is formed so that the width may become narrow gradually toward the adjacent corner part from the substantially center of each edge part of the sealing adhesion surface 11a.
