titleOfInvention Gas purification method and apparatus
abstract The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for separating sulfur dioxide from an exhaust gas, wherein the seawater in which the seawater is added to the exhaust gas and the sulfur compounds are absorbed in the absorption tower is discharged from the liquid collecting portion of the absorption tower, and fresh seawater is added thereto. The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for separating sulfur dioxide from exhaust gas. In order to omit a very expensive and wide second reaction zone according to the prior art, a liquid containing bisulfates is withdrawn from the liquid catchment of the absorption tower and the liquid is removed in a pipeline for sulfate formation and pH control (neutralization). It is suggested to mix with fresh sea water. The present invention is based on the discovery that sulfate formation and pH control are completed after a reaction time between 1 and 2 minutes. Therefore, the wide and expensive second reaction zone can be omitted.
