titleOfInvention Polymer powders comprising polyamide, their use in molding processes and molded articles made from such polymer powders
abstract The present invention relates to a polymer powder comprising polyamide, to the use of the powder for the molding process, and also to a molded article made from the polymer powder.n n n The molding process is a layer-by-layer process that selectively melts the regions of each layer through the introduction of electromagnetic energy and uses powder. Selection may be accomplished through a mask, through the use of inhibitors, absorbers or receptors, or through the concentration of energy introduced, without intending to limit the invention to the following. After cooling, the solidified area can be recovered from the powder layer in the form of a molded article.n n n The preparation of the powders of the present invention is based on polyamides comprising medium size lactam rings. Here, the complicated step of extraction of residual monomers from the polyamide is omitted. The forming process for the RP / RM process is more reliable and consistent even for tasks reaching relatively high levels, since it is indeed possible to remove deposits of residual monomers on optical devices such as laser sintering systems. The properties of the component parts, in particular the surface, are very good and further reproducible than when using powders having a higher content of residual monomers.n n n Medium sized ring, enantholactam, caprylolactam, pelargolactam, caprinolactam, polyamide, electromagnetic energy, layer-by-layer process.
