abstract Disclosed are a backlight assembly, a driving method thereof, and a display device having the same, wherein the display quality of an image is improved by heat radiation. The backlight assembly includes a light generating unit, a container, a photovoltaic unit, and a heat radiating fan. The light generating unit generates light. The storage container includes a bottom surface and a side wall extending from an edge of the bottom surface to receive the light generating unit. The photovoltaic unit is arranged on the sidewall and generates electricity using some of the light. The heat dissipation fan is disposed on the side wall, and receives electricity from the photovoltaic unit to release heat in the storage container. As described above, by driving the heat radiating fan through self-generation by the light generated by the light generating unit, heat in the storage container can be effectively discharged to the outside to improve the display quality of the image.
