titleOfInvention Resting cell population for nuclear transfer
abstract The present invention relates to a method for reconstructing an embryo of an animal, including transplanting nuclei from resting donor cells into appropriate receptor cells. The donor cell is a resting cell, ie it is out of growth and dividing cycles at G1 and stopped at G0 phase. Nuclear transplantation can be performed by cell fusion. The reconstituted embryo can then be used to make one or more animals. The invention is also useful for methods of making mutant animals and nonmutagenic animals with many genetic advantages.
