The intimate blend of staple fibers has 10 to 75 parts by weight of one or more aramid staple fibers, 15 to 80 parts by weight of one or more modacryl staple fibers and 5 to 30 parts by weight of one or more polyamide staple fibers. Intimate blends of staple fibers provide yarns and fabrics that are flame retardant, also referred to as fire resistant, and can be used to make fire retardant articles, such as clothing.
