titleOfInvention | Optical recording material |
abstract | The novel photochromic liquid crystal which consists of a diaryl ethene compound which has photochromic property and liquid crystal property together. This compound consists of the photochromic diarylethene compound which has a mesogenic group in each of two aryl groups.n n n This photochromic liquid crystal has a high birefringence change due to photoisomerization or a birefringence change due to phase transition, and has high repeatability when the birefringence change is repeated.n n n The side chain type polymer liquid crystal containing the photochromic liquid crystal is useful as an optical recording material. This optical recording material can be modulated by irradiating light in the vicinity of Tc, and can be applied to an optical operation element, an optical memory, and the like. This optical recording material can also be used as a recording layer material for optical recording media such as optical disks and optical memory cards. |
