abstract The present invention generally relates to gene expression control methods and synthetic genes for regulating gene expression inherent in cells, tissues or organs of a transgenic individual, in particular a transgenic animal or plant. More specifically, the present invention produces novel phenotypes by using recombinant dna techniques for post-transcriptionally modifying or regulating the expression of target genes throughout cells, tissues, organs or individuals. New synthetic genes and genetic constructs are also provided that, when introduced, can inhibit, delay or reduce the expression of a target gene or unique genes in an individual.
