titleOfInvention Active / Passive Absorbers for Vibration and Acoustic Emissions Control
abstract Active / passive absorbers for vibration and acoustic RADIATIN control include two layers. The first layer has a low tenacity per unit area to allow movement in a direction perpendicular to the main plane. The second layer is mainly a mass layer. These two combined layers have a close resonant frequency with one of the main structures. The dynamic behavior of the combined device makes the active / passive absorber a passive absorber. However, the first layer can be electrically activated to induce movement in a direction perpendicular to the main plane. This additional property can induce and / or change the motion of the mass layer, thus improving the dynamic properties of the active / passive absorber system. The active / passive absorber has multiple mass layers and multiple elastic layers, one stacked on top of the other. In addition, the mass layers may be continuous or discontinuous layers, and have varying thicknesses and shapes for certain sections and / or segments in the mass layer.
