FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to medical device cleaning devices, such as endoscopes, including woven fabrics, wipes, or sponges, impregnated with a composition comprising enzymes such as proteases, alcalase, cellulase, lipolases, surfactants, and wetting agents. Wetting agents are present in amounts that absorb sufficient water to maintain enzymatic activity during storage while reducing any risk arising from the use of anhydrous forms of the enzyme. The cleaning device removes at least a portion of the external cohesive contaminants on the surgical instrument by mechanical wiping and redistributes any residual external contaminants to distribute it to a thinner and more uniform thickness than in the non-wiped instrument. The present invention relates to a packaging of a cleaning device and a method of using the same. |
