abstract |
The present invention relates to a fuel cell component having an improved lyophilic surface such that the liquid on the component adheres closely to the surface with relatively flat droplets or sheets. The lyophilic surface may be formed by a thin layer of polymer that is essentially lyophilic on the component surface. A lyophilic surface can optionally be provided on the critical area of the component, such as on the flow channel wall surface of the bipolar plate and membrane electrode assembly, to suppress liquid blocking of the flow channel during operation of the fuel cell. |
