abstract |
Effective discoloration inhibiting ("TI") polymer compositions provide very good protection against discoloration of the glossy surface of silver objects and include impurity removers for hydrogen sulfide, optionally in the presence of acid gases such as sulfur dioxide. The composition is thermoformed or extruded into a film inside a boxed container, the film comprising an impurity remover of uniformly dispersed μ-sized solid particles selected from silica oxides and zinc oxides of alkali metals in the polymer, much less than 5% by weight. In addition, the film is transparent so that the state of the accumulated silver can be analyzed. Solid inert adjuvant may be added. All solid particles in the material have an original particle size of less than 53 μm, which allows uniform dispersion to be achieved. The silver object is wrapped in a film or accumulated in a sealed box so that solid particles in the polymer are not coated on the surface of the silver object. |
