The present invention provides methods for treating a variety of symptoms, diseases and disorders using high doses of cord blood and cord blood-derived stem cells. High doses of cord blood and cord blood-derived stem cells have numerous uses and applications, including but not limited to therapeutic uses and diagnostic and research uses in the treatment and prevention of transplants and diseases. In particular, umbilical cord blood or umbilical cord blood-derived stem cells are delivered at high doses per treatment, such as at least 3 billion nucleated cells, which may include single or multiple infusions. The present invention also uses cord blood or cord blood-derived stem cells obtained from several donors without the need for HLA typing. |
