abstract |
The present invention relates to a one-step process for preparing polyoxyalkylene glycols having a specific molecular weight by copolymerizing alpha, omega-diol and tetrahydrofuran as comonomers in the presence of heteropolyacids and hydrocarbons. According to the method, the mixture of water and the hydrocarbon is distilled from the polymerization. The present invention is characterized by terminating the polymerization by adding water, comonomers, butanediol or butanediol-water mixtures when a particular molecular weight is achieved. |
