abstract |
The present invention comprises a polyvinylpyridine / styrene / butadiene (p-VSBR) elastomer blended with a polyester or vinyl ester resin, in other words, the presence of water is not a prerequisite. An adhesive composition capable of crosslinking with sulfur and capable of directly binding pregelled polyester or vinyl ester to rubber in the raw state. The resin used is preferably an epoxy vinyl ester type resin based on novolac or bisphenol. In contrast to conventional RFL adhesives, the compositions of the present invention do not require an activation process, for example immediate drying at the point of use. The invention also relates to methods of making such adhesive compositions and to the use of such compositions for making laminated composite parts. |
