abstract | The present invention relates to a method for removing nitrogen and sulfur containing impurities from a high molecular weight petroleum feedstock obtained from a fluid cracking catalyst zone or distillation zone of a petroleum treatment unit. The process of the present invention primarily treats a C 12 or more hydrocarbon petroleum feedstock with nitrogen and sulfur containing compounds with a porous particulate adsorbent comprising a silica matrix having an effective amount of metal atoms, thereby adsorbing at least 500 μmol / g. Making it to have Lewis acidity and then catalytically hydrotreating the resulting feedstock to produce a hydrocarbon fuel having a low sulfur and nitrogen content. |
