titleOfInvention | Mutants of thyroid stimulating hormone and methods based thereon |
abstract | The present invention can produce mutant α subunits and mutant β subunits each having amino acid substitutions relative to the wild type, and in combination mutant thyroid stimulating hormone heterodimers or thyroid stimulation with increased in vivo bioactivity and extended half-life in vivo. It is based on the discovery that it can form hormonal analogs. Accordingly, the present invention provides a method of using mutant thyroid stimulating hormone heterodimers, thyroid stimulating hormone analogs, fragments and derivatives thereof for the treatment and prevention of thyroid disease, in particular thyroid cancer. In addition, the present invention relates to methods for diagnosing, prognosticing, and monitoring thyroid-related functions. Also provided are methods of using mutant thyroid stimulating hormone heterodimers and thyroid stimulating hormone analogs for use in pharmaceutical and diagnostic compositions, for the treatment and prevention of metabolic and reproductive diseases. |
