titleOfInvention Dynamic seal using valcanization of fluorocarbon elastomers
abstract The present invention relates to a dynamic seal device installed between a first and a second relative rotating member, the device extending in a circle from the ring for securing to the first member and sliding on the second member. And an annular seal configured to fit, wherein the length of the circular seal is about 1 to 15 times the thickness. In various embodiments, the seal is molded into a high composition comprising vulcanized fluorocarbon carbon elastomer dispersed in a matrix of thermoplastic polymeric material. In various embodiments, the matrix forms a continuous phase and the vulcanized elastomeric material forms particles of the non-continuous phase. The composition is prepared by mixing a curing agent, an uncured fluorocarbon elastomer, and a thermoplastic material, and applying mechanical energy while heating the mixture to vulcanize the elastomeric material.
