abstract The present invention reacts a mercaptosilane with an organic or inorganic halide or anhydride in the presence of an acid acceptor and washes the resulting reaction product with water / brine to contain two immiscible phases, namely blocked mercaptosilane products. It relates to a process for preparing blocked mercaptosilanes by generating an aqueous phase containing an organic phase and a salt of an acid acceptor. The acid acceptor is regenerated by adding a base to the aqueous phase. This method is suitable for carrying out batchwise or continuously. Blocked mercaptosilane compounds are used as coupling agents for rubber mixtures.
