abstract |
A method of manufacturing a land grid array (LGA) with both conductivity and elasticity is provided. Also provided is an LGA interposer contact produced by this method. An LGA type is provided that uses a pure, unfilled elastomeric button core covered with electrically-conductive material that runs from the top to the bottom of the button structure. To overcome the shortcomings and disadvantages of existing techniques related to the fabrication and construction of land grid arrays using electrically-conductive interposer contacts, methods and structures are provided for molding elastomeric buttons into pre-metalized LGA carrier sheets. Non-conductive elastomeric buttons are surface-metalized to convert them into conductive electrical contacts. |
