Gene therapy for critical limb ischemia with wild type or mutant enos |
abstract |
The present invention provides novel methods for preventing, diagnosing and treating emergency extremity ischemia (CLI) using eNOS polypeptides and polynucleotides to modulate eNOS activity in cells. Wild type and variant eNOS polypeptides and polynucleotides encoding such polypeptides are provided for use in the methods of the invention. The eNOS variant polypeptides of the invention have at least one mutation corresponding to a site within the functional domain of the phosphorylated mammalian eNOS in the cell. |
