(a) reacting a phenolic compound with (b) allyl carboxylate or allyl carbonate in the presence of a transition metal or rare earth metal catalyst complexed with one or more strongly bound irreplaceable stable ligands to form allyl ethers; Processes for preparing allyl ethers are described. The ligand of the transition metal or rare earth metal catalyst complex may be (i) an olefin containing ligand or an aromatic containing ligand or (ii) a polymer ligand or a hetero atom containing multidentate ligand. |
