abstract The present invention relates to the preparation of (2R, of 4- (4-fluorophenyl) -2-isobutyryl-3-phenyl-4-oxo- N -phenyl-butyrylamide, which is a key intermediate for preparing atorvastatin (trade name: Lipitor). 3R) A method for the efficient preparation of isomers, wherein 4-methyl-3-oxo- N -phenylpentamide and 2-halo-1- (4-fluorophenyl) -2-phenone are nucleophilic in the presence of a weak base and a catalyst. According to the present invention, the intermediate for preparing atorvastatin can be obtained in high yield under mild conditions.
