abstract The present invention relates to additives and methods for simultaneously reducing the production levels of carbon and ash in the ash generated from the combustion of coal by using at least one manganese containing additive. The use of manganese-containing additives in coal-fired furnaces leads to both low carbon content and low emissions of nitrogen oxides in the ash content.
