titleOfInvention Method for filling liquid crystal and liquid crystal display device using the same
abstract Disclosed are a liquid crystal injection method capable of increasing the diffusion speed of liquid crystal by irradiating light upon liquid crystal injection and a liquid crystal display device manufactured using the same. A substrate assembly comprising a first substrate coated with a polymer alignment film having azobenzene side chains and a second substrate coated with an alignment film is prepared. Light is irradiated to the substrate assembly in a vacuum state to induce photoisomerization of azobenzene side chains and inject liquid crystal. Some of the light may be irradiated in parallel with respect to the alignment layer applied on the first substrate, and the liquid crystal may be a liquid crystal having negative dielectric anisotropy. According to this method, the diffusion speed of the liquid crystal is increased, thereby shortening the liquid crystal injection time during vacuum injection. In addition, when the liquid crystal is dropped while the liquid crystal is injected dropwise, the dropping speed of the liquid crystal increases, so that the drop pattern unevenness does not occur. Therefore, the use of such a method can reduce the manufacturing cost of the liquid crystal display and can manufacture a high quality liquid crystal display.
