abstract | When the crude aromatic polycarboxylic acid is purified to produce a high purity aromatic polycarboxylic acid, (I) heat aging treatment at 180 to 300 ° C. for 10 minutes or more while stirring the slurry of the crude aromatic polycarboxylic acid with the first dispersion medium. (II) a slurry containing the aromatic polycarboxylic acid subjected to the heat aging treatment was introduced into a dispersion medium replacement column and brought into contact with a second dispersion medium to crystallize the first dispersion medium containing impurities and the aromatic polycarboxylic acid crystal. Dispersion medium replacement step of separating into a second dispersion medium slurry containing a (III) and a crystal separation step of separating the aromatic polycarboxylic acid crystals from the second dispersion medium slurry. By purifying the crude aromatic polycarboxylic acid in such a process, it is possible to industrially advantageously produce aromatic polycarboxylic acid having good color and particle diameter and high purity while reducing energy consumption with a simple configuration. |
