Smoothing method for layered deposition modeling |
abstract |
A method of smoothing the surface of an object made of a polymer or wax material using a rapid forming method for layer production is disclosed. The fabricated object is exposed to the vaporized solvent for an exposure time sufficient to back flow the object surface, for example in an evaporator. The solvent is selected based on the ability to temporarily soften the material that forms the object, and then evaporates in the object. The object is removed from the solvent and dried to produce a smooth finished product. |
