Implantable device for delivering drugs using orifice mechanism capable of low fluid flow rates |
abstract |
The implantable drug delivery device of the present invention comprises a housing and a source of drug contained within the housing. The orifice mechanism is disposed in the housing and in communication with the source of the drug. The orifice mechanism includes an inner member having a proximal end and a distal end and a winding wound spirally around the inner member. The winding and the inner member form a first channel for the delivery of the drug therethrough. The inlet is at the proximal end of the winding and the outlet is at the distal end of the winding. The drug is delivered by an orifice mechanism and dispensed out of the housing. |
