That is, lygulodininium polyedum cells, which are largely cultured coarse algae, are freeze-dried to remove moisture, extracted with a mixed solvent of lower alcohol and dichloromethane, and the obtained extract is evaporated from a solvent under reduced pressure to obtain a residue. The fractions of the alcohol layer obtained by partition extraction with lower alcohol and hexane solvent were evaporated to remove the solvent, and the residue was partitioned with ethyl acetate and water. The obtained ethyl acetate layer and the hexane layer obtained in the previous step are combined, and the solvent is evaporated under reduced pressure to remove the solvent. The residue thus obtained is purified by chromatography to obtain high purity DHA and EPA in high yield. |
