abstract | Provided is a birefringent film including a birefringent layer made of a liquid crystal compound and another birefringent layer, and a manufacturing method capable of producing a thinner film in a lesser process. This manufacturing method is a manufacturing method which uses an orientation-treated non-liquid crystalline birefringent layer as an alignment layer for a liquid crystal compound.
