The use of tetravalent metal salts, preferably zirconium phosphate-phosphonates, having high proton conductivity (in some cases higher than 10 −1 Scm −1 ) may be useful for gas species having good mechanical properties, and / or good proton conductivity. It allows the preparation of filled porous membranes and nano-polymeric membranes in combination with reduced permeability. These membranes can thus be used in fuel cells even at temperatures higher than 80 ° C. Such membranes also have high catalytic activity and thus can be used in catalytic membrane reactors.
