abstract | Iontophoretic devices useful for administering ionic drugs by iontophoresis have iontophoretic electrode portions (active electrode portions) and ground electrode portions (inactive electrode portions), both of which must be connected to a power source. This iontophoresis device comprises elements (members) of electrode portions all formed of a membrane body and also includes ion exchange membranes with different ion selectivities, one of the same species as the charged ions of the ionic drug. Selective for ions and the other for selective charge ions of ionic drugs and other species of ions, these membranes are arranged in the ionophoretic electrode portion and also to ions opposite to the charged ions of the ionic drug. An ion exchange membrane selective to the at least one ground electrode portion is arranged. This iontophoretic device can stably administer an ionic drug for a long time with high delivery efficiency. |
