abstract |
The present invention relates to a method of extracting RNA from a biological system (cell, cell segment, organelle, tissue, organ or organism) by contacting a solution containing RNA with a substrate capable of binding to RNA. RNA is recovered from the substrate by applying negative pressure. The centrifugation step does not exceed 30 seconds. Preferably the RNA is diluted before filtration and one or more wash steps are used to remove obstructions. In one such method, no centrifugation is performed during the extraction step except for the DNA shearing and drying process. |
