| abstract | Apparatus for delivering or withdrawing fluid through at least one skin layer is provided. The device has a body having a top, bottom, side edges and at least one channel. The bottom has a first surface portion and a second surface portion proximate to the first surface portion and concave at a first distance therefrom. The bottom also has at least one raised protrusion disposed on the second surface portion. The protrusion has a height from the first surface that is greater than the first distance. At least one skin access member is provided in the protrusion and in fluid communication with the channel to deliver or withdraw fluid. The channel access member extends at least 1 mm from the protrusion. The mechanism drives the device against the skin at an estimated speed of about 6 m / s to about 18 m / s. |
