DNA vaccines effective for inducing an immune response against cells presenting a cancer embryo antigen (CEA) include DNAs operably encoding CEA and DNAs operably encoding CD40 ligands, SEQ ID NO: 1 and SEQ ID NO: 2, respectively. Or homotrimers thereof, CD40LT. The present DNA vaccines can be incorporated into delivery vectors such as attenuated live bacteria or viruses, or liposome carriers. In a method embodiment, the DNA vaccine can be administered orally to a mammal, such as a human, to induce an immune response against CEA presenting cells, such as colon cancer cells. Preferred method embodiments include the further step of treating the mammal with the recombinant antibody fusion protein huKS1 / 4-IL2 to enhance the immune response effect of the present vaccine. |
