The present invention relates primarily to chemically bonded ceramic materials based on calcium aluminate hydrates with additives of calcium titanate and chemically similar compounds. The materials are biocompatible materials for implants, especially in orthopedic and dental applications. The invention also relates to an article made at least in part from said material. The material of the present invention has the properties necessary for orthopedic biocement. The material cures through reaction with water to develop its strength within a short time, has excellent workability before curing, is stable in shape, has low heat generation during the curing process, and is friendly to adjacent tissues. |
