The present invention relates to multicomponent fibers having enhanced reversible thermal properties and methods of making the same. Multicomponent fibers include a fiber body formed of a plurality of elongate members in which a thermostatic material is dispersed within one or more components. The thermostatic material includes a phase change material. Multicomponent fibers may be formed by melt spinning processes or solution spinning processes, and may be used or incorporated in a variety of products that require thermal control properties. For example, multicomponent fibers can be used in textiles, garments, shoes, medical products, containers and packaging, buildings, appliances, and other products. |
