Use of nanoparticles as carriers for biocides in ophthalmic compositions |
abstract |
The present invention relates to the use of nanoparticles of inorganic materials (eg synthetic smectite clay) in ophthalmic compositions. Nanoparticles are used as carriers or depots that are biologically inert to biocides. Nanoparticles are particularly useful for preventing or reducing the absorption of biocides from ophthalmic compositions by lenses when the ophthalmic compositions are applied to contact lenses. |
