A novel method for the preparation of escitalopram is provided. This method involves chromatographic separation of enantiomers or intermediates of citalopram in the preparation of citalopram using chiral stationary phases such as Chiralpak ™ AD and Chiralcel ™ OD. Also provided are novel chiral intermediates for the synthesis of escitalopram prepared by the above process. |
