abstract | The present invention removes the water produced during the polymerization while polymerizing the sugar at a temperature below its substantial decomposition temperature under reduced pressure, in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of an organic acid selected from monocarboxylic acids, lactones of monocarboxylic acids and arylols. It relates to a method for producing a carbohydrate polymer, comprising: wherein the organic acid is non-volatile, has only one acidic functional group and no amino group. The invention also relates to a product prepared therefrom. |
