titleOfInvention Prosthesis having a sleeve valve
abstract A pressure sensitive prosthesis is disclosed that includes a tubular member having a passageway and a sleeve attached about one end of the tubular member. The sleeve functions as a one-way valve that allows flow of fluid through the sleeve lumen in a first direction under a first pressure and contracts in response to fluid flowing in a second direction when the pressure of the fluid exceeds the pressure in the first direction. do. One aspect of the present invention includes an esophageal reflux preventive inflatable prosthesis wherein the sleeve is adapted to be reversed backward through the tubular stent frame to allow for trimming or vomiting (a fluid or material under a significantly greater third pressure). Another aspect of the invention includes a tubular drainage stent, such as a bile duct or urethral stent, in which the sleeve is opened to allow passage of fluid and then contracted to prevent retrograde flow.
