titleOfInvention | Inhalers |
abstract | An inhaler for producing an inhalable aerosol of powdered medicine is provided with an aerosolization device in the form of a cylindrical vortex chamber 1. The vortex chamber 1 has a tangential inlet 3 and an axial outlet 2. The ratio of the diameter of the vortex chamber 1 to the diameter of the outlet 2 is 4-12. The length of the outlet 2 is shorter than its diameter. The cross section of the inlet 3 is rectangular and defined at the farthest end and bottom by the walls of the vortex chamber 1. The cross-sectional area of the inlet tube 7, which supplies medicine into the gas flow to the inlet 3, decreases in the direction towards the vortex chamber 1. The inlet pipe 7 can be curved. Inhalers use a relatively small amount of energy, but can repeatedly produce a drug's aerosol with a high proportion of particles between 1 μm and 3 μm. |
