New 5-substituted 2-arylpyridine compounds are provided. This compound can act as a selective regulator of the CRF receptor. The 5-substituted 2-arylpyridine compounds provided herein are useful for treating a number of CNS and peripheral diseases, particularly stress, anxiety, depression, cardiovascular disease, and eating disorders. Methods of treating such diseases and packaged pharmaceutical compositions are also provided. The compounds of the present invention are also useful as probes for localization of standard and CRF receptors in CRF receptor binding assays. The use of such compounds in receptor localization studies is provided. |
