abstract The present invention discloses a face recognition method and apparatus for recognizing a face using an artificial neural network. An apparatus for recognizing a face of an embodiment of the present invention may include a unique packer selecting unit generating unique pack cells representing a feature pattern of a face and selecting a predetermined number of unique pack cells among the generated unique pack cells; An inherent filtering unit for filtering the input image to the selected intrinsic pack cells respectively; A predetermined number of neural networks respectively corresponding to the selected unique pack cells and receiving a signal of an image filtered with the corresponding unique pack cells and outputting a face recognition result; And a determination unit which receives a recognition result from each neural network and outputs a final face recognition result of the input image.
