titleOfInvention | Embedded mechanical fastener |
abstract | The present invention relates to a flexible mechanical fastener such as a fabric comprising a flexible layer and at least one fastener island and a method of making such a fastener. The fastener island portion has a planar peripheral edge, a mechanical fastening material and a support material attached to the mechanical fastening material. The support material is embedded in the flexible layer, and the planar peripheral edge is surrounded by the flexible layer. Thus, mechanical fasteners provide improved flexibility and appearance, such as cloth. Improved flexibility and appearance, such as cloth, reduce the likelihood that a user will be exposed to rough edges or wrinkles, thereby reducing the likelihood of red spots or inflammation on the skin. Moreover, the flexibility of the fastener allows the fastener to better accommodate the wearer's movement, providing a more reliable fixation. Flexible mechanical fasteners, such as fabrics, can be particularly useful when combined with disposable absorbent products to secure the disposable absorbent product to the wearer. |
