abstract |
To produce closed loop dilution steam in ethylene plant using countercurrent multi-stage extraction to remove both free organic and dissolved organic solutes from pure cooling water with organic solvents to produce water-soluble raffinates containing only residual organic solutes. How to pretreat oil / water. The raffinate is steam stripped to remove residual organic solutes to produce a coolant stream of pretreated organic material. The pretreated coolant is suitable for reuse to regenerate dilute steam (no contamination). The (solvent) extract by extraction is regenerated in a solvent regenerator having a overhead stream for purging the light effluent, a bottoms stream for purging the heavy effluent, and a hertcut side stream for recycling the solvent to the extractor. Alternatively, the solvent may be taken as a heartcut or equivalent thereof from the plant after passing through the multi-stage solvent extraction unit and returned to the treatment unit of the existing ethylene and / or purification plant. |
