The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a compound of formula (I) comprising hydrogenating a compound of formula (II) in the presence of a catalyst comprising palladium to form a compound of formula (I).n n n <Formula I>n n n n n n n n (In the above formula,n n n A is O or N-L;n n n Each L is independently H or an acyl group;n n n K, together with two adjacent linking carbon atoms, forms a phenyl ring, a 5- or 6-membered heteroaromatic ring or an aromatic 8-, 9- or 10-membered fused carbocyclic or heterobicyclic ring structure, Wherein each ring or ring structure is optionally substituted;n n n R 1 is H, C 1 to C 4 alkyl or CO 2 R 3 ;n n n R 2 is H or C 1 to C 4 alkyl;n n n R 3 is C 1 to C 4 alkyl;n n n <Formula II>n n n n n n n n (Wherein n is 0, 1 or 2).
