abstract The present invention relates to a method for producing interleukin-18 protein using a yeast expression system, comprising: (a) a GPD promoter (glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase; GenBank accession number M13807) or AG promoter (GenBank accession number J01314), (b) Provided are a vector comprising an extracellular secretion signal sequence, (c) a cytokine gene and (d) a transcription termination signal sequence, a transformant comprising the same, and a recombinant interleukin-18 protein. Recombinant interleukin-18 protein of the present invention can be used as an immuno-increasing composition for anti-viral and bacterial infections, as an anticancer composition as well as an antigen for the production of interleukin-18 antibody.
